At FLMMD, we do not cover the cost of the Florida medical marijuana card, which is an additional fee that is paid directly to the state. The state of Florida charges a fee of $75 for the medical marijuana card, which is required for patients to legally purchase and use medical marijuana in the state. This fee is set by the Florida Department of Health’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU), and we have no control over its pricing.
While we understand that this additional fee may be a burden for some patients, it is important to note that the medical marijuana card provides legal protection for patients who are using medical marijuana in Florida. Without the card, patients risk legal penalties for using or possessing medical marijuana, even if they have a valid medical condition and a recommendation from a qualified physician.
